A new organization dedicated to urging politicians to base decisions on sound science is a welcome addition to Greater Victoria.

A few weeks ago I was hoofing my way to work when, through the window of a restaurant, I spotted a friend eating breakfast.

Understandably, much weeping and gnashing of teeth has gone on of late over the question of how best to serve the West Shore鈥檚 growing transportation needs.

In four lanes of one-way traffic on Vernon Avenue in Saanich, a pair of headlights bear down on morning commuters. With red and white flashing lights and the backwards 鈥渁mbulance鈥� facing us, traffic parts in synchrony 鈥� as it should.

Our hats are off to the remarkable talent and outstanding effort on display at this weekend鈥檚 Canadian figure skating championships in Victoria.
